Dems demand FBI briefing on foreign ’disinformation’ campaign targeting election

Democratic congressional leaders Monday released a letter they wrote to FBI Director Wray requesting for an urgent briefing over concerns that members of Congress are being targeted by a foreign operation intended to influence the presidential election. While the letter, dated July 13, doesn’t specify what prompted the concerns, Dems have raised concerns that Russia will interfere in the election

"We are gravely concerned, in particular, that Congress appears to be the target of a concerted foreign interference campaign, which seeks to launder and amplify disinformation in order to influence congressional activity, public debate, and the presidential election in November.” Sure, valid concern. But would it not be better if they approached the FBI with proof of interference, and then, based on the proof, asked for a briefing. Otherwise, this looks a lot like groping about in the dark.
