Florida teachers union sues Governor DeSantis over school reopenings

The Florida Education Association, a teachers union representing about 140,000 school employees, on Monday filed a lawsuit seeking to block an order from Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) requiring schools to reopen in August despite a sustained surge in coronavirus cases in the state. The suit alleges that the order violates the state constitution’s mandate on ’safe’ and ’secure’ public education.

What a horrible group of people the unions are. They think they know what to do even when the scientific research says otherwise. There is no more risk opening this year than years past. Covid is not a threat to children statistically speaking. Nor is it any more of a threat to teachers than the flu season. If the teacher's union won't allow teachers to do their job then teahcers need to break with the union and show some self respect and go back to work.
