NFL planning to let players wear social justice decals on helmets

The NFL is reportedly planning to let players have decals on the back of their helmets bearing names or initials of victims of systemic racism and police violence. A list of names and initials will be compiled by the league and the NFL Players Association. The NFL also touted its 10-year, $250 million commitment to ’combat systemic racism’, announced in June.

If, as long as *all those* who have died at the hands of the police can be represented thus, then it would make sense. Since the fight is against police excesses, and if we only narrow it down to black people getting killed, we might run the risk of looking at the issue of police brutality via a very reductionist narrative. What say?
