Ohio House speaker arrested in connection to $60 million bribery scheme

The Republican speaker of Ohio’s House of Rep. and four others were arrested and charged Tuesday as part of a $60mn racketeering and bribery probe. Speaker Larry Householder and others are accused of orchestrating an operation to accept over $60mn dollars from ’Company A’ in return for a public bailout for the company worth more than $1bn. ’Company A’ is speculated to be FirstEnergy Corp.

Unfortunately this will adversely effect the nuclear power industry which is struggling under the pressures of government intervention and local fears. I hope that we can allow for the construction of new plants soon. This is an interesting case and hopefully the full evidence comes to light and everyone involved is processed under the law.
