Twitter bans 7,000 QAnon accounts and limits 150,000 others

Twitter claimed on Tuesday that it has started taking actions to limit the reach of QAnon content, banning many of the conspiracy theory’s followers. The company also will no longer recommend accounts and content related to QAnon. A spokesperson claimed that it will affect around 150,000 accounts. Twitter had removed over 7,000 QAnon accounts the last several weeks as part of its new policy.

Censorship!?!? From Twitter?!?! Say it ain’t so.

Censorship. The hallmark of all great dictatorships.

Qanon is exposing the Illuminati. From Epstein all the way down digging deep into the dirt exposing everyone that's involved.

skrappjaw 1 weeks

The saddest part about Q is that there are truly respectable and average people falling for it. We all want the pedo sex trafficking to stop, and for the corrupt officials associated with Epstein to burn for their roles in it, but Qanon is a dangerous abyss of false hope, that tugs of those very heart strings. That said, I don't think Twitter should be doing anything to censor it. Go to my Twitter @skrappjaw and see the post I did debunking the latest qdrop on Gen Flynn. More speech = better understanding. Censorship just emboldens people and drives suspicion.

Questions: If the Qanon movement is a wild conspiracy theory, then why does Twitter or any other platform try to censor it so heavily? If oh so many people are "falling for it," why? And why does it matter? I'm not going to comment on the veracity of the movement, because I want to understand what the need is to remove these ideas from a platform claiming to be a public forum.

Twitter bans everything. Get on Parler

While I personally think the Q fandom is a little crazy, unless they actually break Twitter guidelines I don't see a need to silence them. Why not also silence flat earthers? I suppose it's because they are far more tame, but I seem them as equivalent.

When you tear out a man's tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world that you fear what he might say.

More censorship from Twitter.

If Qanon is bullshit to those who don't believe it's conspiracy theories then WHY is there a concentrated effort to ban anything involving Qanon. Could there be some truth to what Qanon is saying and the left is angry about what it's spreading. You know you put validity into anything that you try and stop instead of letting it be theoretical.

Where is the crackdown on BLM and Antifa Terrorist accounts? Fucking leftist media censorship.

To conflate the fact there is a clear entrenched bureaucracy and sanctions/permits elected officials to spy on their political rivals, with child sex-trafficking, is laughable, especially when congress can't even for the life of them get a lone first down conversion before a turn over, and the fundamental business of the American people, the first of which should be congressional term limits, never gets done, so we can see the same stupid looking faces over and over, year after year, rather than having normal people like us go up there and clear all this crap out, smh.... how dumb

"Conspiracy group" But the lefties can still yap on about "Russian collision" and "white supremacists" being behind the BLM rioting and looting.

Why censor at all? I say give them all the rope they need to figuratively hang themselves with their bat shit theories.

The fact that y'all consider this censorship makes me lose faith in people's basic knowledge of free speech and private companies. Private companies are 100% allowed to dictate how their platforms are run. You can't be capitalist while at the same time complaining about privatized practices. Censorship is censorship when it's the government silencing you, not a company. No shirt, no shoes, no service.
