UN: Cash payments to the poorest 2.7 billion would slow the spread of Covid-19

A temporary basic income for the world’s poorest 2.7 billion people in 132 developing countries could possibly help to slow the spread of the coronavirus by allowing them to stay home and isolated, according to a U.N. Development Programme (UNDP) report released on Thursday. According to the report, the programme would cost at least $199 billion per month.
