Tesla to build its largest auto assembly plant near Austin, Texas

Tesla has chosen Austin, Texas area as the site for its largest auto assembly plant employing at least 5,000 workers, chief executive Elon Musk announced during the company’s earnings call on Wednesday. The area takes up about 2,000 acres and will be roughly 15 minutes from downtown Austin, Musk said. Tesla has said it will invest $1.1 billion in the plant.
