British couple win battle to name child Lucifer

The Derbyshire County Council issued an apology to the parents of a four-month-old, after one of its registrars tried to bar the couple from naming their son ’Lucifer’. The unnamed registrar is alleged to have told Dan and Mandy Sheldon that the boy ’would not succeed in life’. ’I tried to explain that we are not religious people, and Lucifer in Greek means ’light-bringer’’, Dan elaborated.

There is a real argument for child abuse here. Yes they can name the child whatever they want but that doesn't make it a good idea to name him something that is going to hurt him at school and in job interviews for example.
