Malaysia opposition condemns applying old video law to social media

Communications & Multimedia Minister Abdullah told parliament that a decade old country’s law requiring video or film productions to be licensed before being broadcast would be extended to social media. Opposition lawmakers have slammed the govt of trying to cast a wide regulatory net on social media content using a 1981 National Film Development Corporation Act, which predates the internet.
