Vietnam bans wildlife trade over pandemic risk

In response to pandemic concerns, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam announced on Friday a ban on imports and the closure of wildlife markets. The order prohibits all imports of wildlife, dead or alive, and includes eggs and larvae. Vietnam has long been a popular destination for the wildlife products used in traditional medicine, or in preparing exotic cuisine.

This is just another example of how Vietnam is succeeding in controlling the spread of the virus. Zero deaths and 413 cases so far. Instead of bickering themselves into a political, social and economical crisis, they put down heavy measures to control the spread initially. They are now set to a reopening. Lessons for some countries perhaps?
