83 mph wind gusts cause significant structural damage to southern Texas areas

Hurricane Hanna, moving at 8 mph when it made landfall at Padre Island, north of Port Mansfield, continued to deliver heavy rain and flash flooding as it moved inland Saturday after slamming areas along the South Texas coast with 75 mph sustained winds, heavy rain and strong storm surges with gusts up to 83 mph. The worst of it south of Corpus Christi, down to the mouth of the Rio Grande River
