Huawei overtakes Samsung as world’s biggest smartphone vendor

Huawei has overtaken Samsung to become the world’s top smartphone seller last quarter. The Chinese tech company shipped 55.8M phones in the three months ended in June, surpassing Samsung, which shipped 53.7M. Experts say Huawei’s victory over Samsung wouldn’t have happened without Covid-19. The company now sells over 70% of its smartphones in China, taking advantage of the economic recovery.
