UK house prices spike to 11 year high but economist warn of a false dawn

UK house prices saw their biggest rise in 11 years, up 1.7% in July as the property market bounced back quicker than expected with the easing of lockdown restrictions. However, economists have warned of reading too much into the data in terms of the economic recovery, as it could prove a false dawn as the fallout of the pandemic could impact jobs and also the temporary support measures end.
