Trump states he will be voting Absentee instead of by mail in voting

Donald Trump has stated that instead of doing ’mail in voting’ he will be voting Absentee in Florida. His stated reason being for this is that he will not be able to make it back. Trump has been critical of mail in voting, despite only anecdotal evidence suggesting fraud is an issue.

Isn’t absentee ballots and mail in the same thing this election? I mean expanding absentee ballots to anyone who wants it due to the pandemic

Love it how the progressives are railing on this but does nobody remember all of the scams with absentee votes suddenly appearing after an election.

There's no difference. Absentee and mail-in voting share the same, critical element. The voter does not go to a voting location. They vote in adstentia. The delivery system is the same.

I'm glad this made the news so more people understand the distinction between absentee voting and the general 'mail-in' voting being proposed. Both have some security problems in common, but to me then most significant differences seem to be that absentee ballots require an application, and the process is already in place. My concern isn't just that votes will get 'lost' in the mail, it's that extra ballots that don't require applications will be mailed to individuals who will use them to multiply their own votes, and that the counting will take even longer than usual. It's not a partisan issue. The ones advocating for this highly insecure process don't seem to care, suggesting they intend to take advantage of the vulnerabilities. That should be a red flag for any critical thinker.

Mail in and absentee is disingenuous. If I were in charge I’d make it mandatory to vote via blood donation. Poetic and harder to fake.

Trump already said everyone should have the option to do absentee if they want to stay home because of COVID they just need to request it. This prevents, sending ballots to dead people, and old addresses, while minimizing impact on the postal system.

It's allright for trump to vote by mail but no one else has that privilege. Right.

There's no difference between the two. Same requirements for both. So why does trump have to lie about that also Our country deserves better

If Republicans wanted vote in person so much they would open more polling places instead of closing them, make election day a national holiday so people can actually get out to vote. Instead they do everything they can to suppress people's right to vote.

Well now trump and the Republicans love voter suppression. But heres the deal I'm pretty sure trump has voted by mail a lot so for him to claim something false is just showing his true character. He is corrupt and will find anyway to win.

There isn't any reason to believe that in-person voting cannot or should not be done. If I can do in-person grocery shopping then why can I not do in-person voting? Both involve large groups of people, in lines, and touching computer screens.
