80+ people killed by bootleg alcohol in Indian state of Punjab

Indian officials have reported that more than 80 people have died in recent days after drinking bootleg alcohol tainted with toxic methanol. On Saturday, police carried out more than 100 raids, confiscating supplies and making 25 arrests. Hundreds die every year in India from poisoned alcohol that is made in backstreet distilleries and sells for as little as 10 rupees (13 US cents) per liter.
