Dwayne ’The Rock’ Johnson buys XFL for $15 million

Dwayne Johnson has bought a stake in the XFL for $15M after the spring football league went bankrupt in its return season amid the pandemic. Alpha Entertainment, which owns the 8-team league, filed for Chapter 11 protection in April after only five weeks of play. Johnson and RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale reportedly bought the league together hours before it was set to hit the auction block.

Depending on what he does with it, I may have to check this out, now that the NFL has shown itself to be a bunch of segregationists (playing a separate "Black National Anthem" implies that blacks are a separate nation).

Just make a game to give the shithshow that is madden some competition so they can’t keep releasing an inferior version of the same thing they released the previous year.

Good luck, Mr. Johnson. Make it awesome. We need some true diversion and entertainment in these dark times.

The one good thing about this whole “pandemic” is the fact that it mostly canceled all of ‘sportsball’. America needs to wake up and throw away its distractions that have kept them all in a trance.

Wow if he just wanted to piss away money he could have given it to me. I'm about as likely to show a return on investment as XFL is.

Didn’t even know they were still a thing

Purchase of XFL is tax planning. Losses to offset his income.

My hero! Make an alternative to the “woke” league and I’m there. In fact make an XBA while you’re at it. Their needs to be sports for everyone where we can watch the best players compete and not listen to them complain.

I don't care who owns the league, I just want them start playing already! (Yes, I realize how entitled that sounds) They have been talking about it forever and a day now.
