State AGs ask Feds to make COVID-19 drug remdesivir more available and cheaper

A bipartisan coalition of attorneys general asked the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) to invoke a federal patent law to increase supply and lower prices of the COVID-19 drug remdesivir. The group, led by Calif. AG Becerra and Louisiana AG Landry, said HHS, the FDA and NIH should license Gilead Sciences’ antiviral to other companies to ease potential shortages and lower the price.

If caught early on it would be cheaper to just use hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and azithromycin. Remidisvir was rushed through trials and has not had longitudinal studies preformed. I wouldn't try it if it was free.
