Port officials put under house arrest

Lebanese President Michel Aoun said the blast was caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate which was left in a warehouse for six years at the city’s port. The cabinet has ordered port officials involved in storing or guarding the material since 2014 to be put under house arrest

Now that it’s coming out that they stored explosive chemicals in that warehouse since 2014, located in a city center, they are going to have to get some scapegoats to charge for it. Why? Lack of regulations, and extreme corruption endemic to the country. Someone has got to be blamed for the citizens to be satisfied, and not look deeper. This is the reason why there are regulations. So bridges don’t collapse, buildings don’t collapse, people don’t get poisoned, and warehouses don’t explode. This is the reason we fight to make sure corrupt businessmen and politicians don’t gain control perminantly. Unfortunately, it’s a never ending fight.
