US steps up campaign to purge ’untrusted’ Chinese apps

The Trump administration said it was stepping up efforts to purge ’untrusted’ Chinese apps from US digital networks and called TikTok and WeChat ’significant threats’. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said expanded efforts on a program called Clean Network would focus on five areas and include steps to prevent various Chinese apps and telecoms companies from accessing sensitive information.
