’Kindergarten Cop’ screening axed in Oregon for ’romanticizing over-policing’

The NW Film Center has canceled a planned screening of Kindergarten Cop after complaints that the film makes light of over-policing. The film that was made in Oregon had been planned to serve as the kick-off event for a ’Cinema Unbound’ summer drive-in movie series. The decision was changed after author Lois Leveen tweeted against the film calling it ’exploitative’, which triggered a twitter storm

I do wonder if these brilliant individuals realize they just sacrificed a film that glorifies teachers as well, in their perpetual crusade to trash the police.
