Beirut explosion: Anti-government protests break out in city

Protesters clashed with Lebanese security forces in Beirut Thursday, as rage over the country’s leadership grew following a massive explosion that laid waste to large parts of the capital on Tuesday. Officers deployed tear gas on dozens of people near parliament where a small fire was lit and stones were thrown at security forces. Many in Lebanon say government negligence led to the explosion.

This was bound to happen but given that Lebanon is in a state of emergency and the military has been deployed for two full weeks - these protests will be quieted down soon. But in this circumstance, with the government failing so monumentally, aren't people left with anything but to demonstrate?
