US lawmakers from both parties sound alarm on Postal Service changes

Lawmakers from both parties are calling on the US Postal Service to reverse operational changes that are causing delays in deliveries across the country ahead of the election. The Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said the measures are intended to address the service’s longtime financial problems. Meanwhile, Sen. Warren (D) has called on the USPS inspector general to probe changes made by DeJoy.

The postal service has been a disaster for decades. Heavy on incompetent middle management. I know. I worked for the postal service for 3 years

President Trump fearing a Democrat rigged mail vote in scam to rob the election from him appoints DeJoy to implement swift and safe delivery of mail ballots because everyone IS voting Trump and every vote needs to be counted.....what ?.... That's not what's happening...but Trump and his appointees should want clean and safe mail in ballots right? Oh he's playing 9d chess again. He's going to destroy the ability for mail in ballots to be counted because it's the Democrats that want to rig the election through mail in ballots. Genius. Pre rig the rigging.

If some short term delays, assuming such claims are accurate, allow the USPS to potentially get in the black for the long term, then I do not get why such operational changes would be opposed.

The post office is the most incompetent disorganized wastful entity in this country. Let it die. It's overplayed it's usefulness. Private Enterprise can handle the job of delivering mostly junk mail.

It takes over 60 days to get a box from Camada or Mexico into the United States, I've tracked it. It takes almost 45 days to get a large flat rate box across the country, I've tracked it. It takes almost 15 days to get a one pound priority mail box a couple states over, I've tracked it. It takes the same amount of time for an 8 ounce first class package to make it the same distance, guess what I've tracked it. The USPS can behave however it wants and it will still get its funding. However FedEx and UPS and others depend on paying customers, and boy howdy it shows. You get consistent delivery time with the private industry, or you get to roll the dice with the government's level of service.
