As stimulus talks stall in Congress, President Trump signs 4 executive orders. These orders continue student loan payment relief freezing interest rates for federal student loans at 0% and deferring payments, extend the foreclosure and eviction suspensions for homeowners and renters, defer payroll tax payments, as well as continue unemployment stimulus payments of $400 per week, down from $600.
I wonder how long it’s gonna take for Trump doing what most people (including Democrats) wanted to be called racist or bigoted? He has extended federal unemployment benefits ($400/week $300 from fed +$100 from state) we’ll have to see if that means the state will deduct $100 from your normal payment and consider it stimulus or if they will give you an additional $100 to what they were providing before. He has extended student loan interest/payment relief payments through the end of the year. He has extended protections for homeowners and renters from evictions/foreclosures, which is certainly important. He has deferred payroll tax obligations, and is seeking to eliminate obligations on deferred payroll taxes. The only thing I could see Democrats not supporting is cutting unemployment benefits to $400/ week but that’s much better than the $0 people are getting now and if Democrats decide to actually play ball maybe they could get $600/ week
