Amazon may turn dying JC Penney and Sears stores into warehouses

Amazon is in talks with major mall operator Simon Property Group over a plan to convert some of its mall spaces into fulfillment centers, The WSJ said. As part of the deal, Amazon could take over former anchor department-store spaces earlier occupied by Sears and JCP, both of which have filed for bankruptcy and closed dozens of stores in recent months. Simon is pursuing an acquisition of JCPenney.

Sears and J.C were already hurting but 3 months of state mandated monopolies didn't help them.

Not a bad idea. They already have loading docks and large, open flooplans for their forklifts and daleks to run around in.

Would make a lot of sense. Faster delivery times for some markets. That and it takes care of empty store fronts that’s becoming a big issue as these “super” stores close due to the shift in how we shop. They turned an old K-Mart into a strip mall not far from me. Hope it works out

Better than leaving them empty, at least.

If he wanted to, Jeff B. could buy some of these Trump Towers and turn them into indoor malls. It's not like Donny Boy ever uses them, anyway.

With all those empty buildings, Bezos should consider some sort of housing for the homeless.
