Midwest hammered by powerful derecho with 100 mph winds

The Midwest was hammered by strong winds with speeds up to 100mph and power similar to an inland hurricane, on Monday. Trees were blown over, vehicles were flipped and there was widespread damage to property as thousands of people were left without power. The storm affected Indiana, Michigan and Chicago. Such storms are known as a derecho, and this one damaged Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska, too.
