Google stops responding directly to data requests from Hong Kong government

Google has stopped responding to user data requests from Hong Kong authorities following the enactment of a new national security law imposed by China, and said it will instead redirect authorities to the Hong Kong-US Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, which requires the involvement of the US Justice Dept., implying the company would treat Hong Kong the same as mainland China in such dealings.
