Hundreds of protesters in Bend, Oregon clashed with ICE agents during a tense 10-hour standoff on Wednesday after they detained two illegal immigrants in the sanctuary city. Bend Mayor Sally Russell appealed to the protesters to leave the area and said on Twitter that the arrests weren’t an immigration sweep. ICE said the 2 individuals arrested each had a history of criminal violent behavior.
Keeping aside the reasons for doing this, isn't blocking the roads peacefully (that is without using weapons and force) a viable form of protesting? We were pretty accepting of it when it was happening anywhere else like Hong Kong. Can we really change the parameters of what the 'acceptable' ways of protesting are depending on where we stand on an issue?
"Protesters" don't block buses or break the law. Criminals break the law. Get the story straight.
