Russell Kirsch, computer scientist and pixel inventor dies aged 91

At the age of 91, the person credited with the invention of the pixel and scanning the first digital photo in the world, Russell Kirsch, died on the 11th of August at his home in Portland, Oregon. Kirsch had created a 2 by 2 inch black and white digital image of his son. He later developed pixels with variable shapes rather than squares in order to smooth out images.
