Apple and Google drop Fortnite from their app stores due to direct payment plan

Apple and Google have removed Fortnite from their app stores after Epic Games, the game’s developer, introduced a direct payment plan called Epic Direct payments that bypasses their platforms. Epic Games claimed that it is the same payment system it uses to process payments on PC and Mac computers and Android phones. Apple and Google claimed that it violates their guidelines.

Both are not going to be able to compete with AMAZON in the near future. Both riding on the past.

Epic were telling developers to drop Steam over their commission. The way I see it Apple and Google have just played a reverse card. Going back to Steam, EA tried this very same thing with back end stores in their games. The result was Steam said that is against their policy, EA launched Origin and stopped selling on Steam. Look who won. EA came back with its entire library. As Epic will have to eventually fold here. Both GooglePlay and AppStore are far to large in terms of app access to be more affected than Epic here.

Might does not make right. I hope that the masses can still rise up.

Terrible game but that’s my biases. I do like their free-market thinking.
