A spike of COVID-19 cases in France prompted Britain to impose a surprise quarantine deadline, which caused hundreds of thousands of tourists to rush back home. 2,846 new COVID-19 cases were reported by France in 24 hours after which the decision was made by UK. British tourists faced a two week mandatory quarantine upon returning back if they did not leave the country by 4 a.m. on Sunday.
