Kim Jong Un orders pet dogs to be handed over for ’restaurant meat’

Owning a pet in North Korea was recently banned by dictator Kim Jong Un. Homes are being identified by authorities in Pyongyang where the owners have dogs and then the dogs are being rounded up. The dogs will then be sent over to state-run zoos or sold to restaurants selling dog meat. The country is facing a severe food shortage, and people feel the move might be in line to address the same.

When a government orders you to give up your pets to be food, it's probably long past time to consider that those who govern you might suck at their job.

What I do not understand is why Kim Jong-Un does not start negotiating trade deals so as to feed his people. That way his people do not have to sacrifice their pets lifes.
