Trump praises QAnon supporters saying ’they like me’ and ’love our country’

President Trump commented on QAnon for the first time publicly – saying that followers of the far-right conspiracy movement ’love our country.’ Trump said that he does not know much about the movement, but ’they like me very much’. He has retweeted tweets about the conspiracy theory that emerged on a notoriously racist and sexist 4chan message board.

The issue is that QAnon can cause a very real threat. In December 2016, Edgar Maddison Welch walked into a Pizzaria called Comet Ping Pong in Washington. He was heavily armed and had come there to bust up what he believed was a 'child sex ring run by Hillary Clinton.' This was information he got off QAnon. Shouldn't the President, since he is so loved by the group, try and quell rumors within it at least to the point that it doesn't inspire normal everyday people like Welch to pick up the gun?
