MGM Resorts to fire 18,000 previously furloughed US staff

Casino operator MGM Resorts has announced lay off 18,000 previously furloughed workers in the US. As per the Wall Street Journal, the move of the company is primarily owing to global travel slowdown from the Covid-19 crisis which has impacted its operations. The job cuts will begin from Monday. The company had around 52,000 full-time and 18,000 part-time employees in the US, as of Dec. 31, 2019.
