Lawmakers in California vote to set up reparations task force

State senators in California, on Saturday, voted to endorse creating a task force to study possible payment of reparations to black Americans who have enslaved ancestors. They approved of creating the nine-member commission on a bipartisan 33-3 vote. The measure goes back to the Assembly for a final vote, even though an earlier version of the bill received immense approval from Assembly members.

Am I missing something here California had been a part of the USA for less than 20 years when slavery was abolished, it sent gold to help finance the Union cause during the civil war and played no part in slavery or the trans Atlantic slave trade So why would it’s taxpayers pay the descendants of slaves anything?

If black people family were slave owners do they have to pay reperattions too? Or is it just the white people. What if their money came from hard work. It doesnt seem fair to have to pay for ancestors choices.
