Pence was on standby to take over from Trump during hospital visit, claims book

As per claims in a new book by NYT reporter Michael Schmidt, Mike Pence was ’on standby’ to take over the presidency during President Trump’s unplanned visit to hospital last year. Plans for Pence to take the presidency were in place ’if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would have required him to be anaesthetized’ during a visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre.

Standard practice is standard. That is one of the main jobs as VP, to assume power when the president is incapable. That's one of the problems with the Biden Harris ticket. The idea of Kamala Harris filling in if Joe Biden is unfit to lead is rather off putting.

Good. That is the #1 job of the Vice-President. Trump may be fiesty but he is still the oldest man ever elected President in American History so you never know. Pence is doing his job and hopefully will never have to actually take over.
