Man with ’Boogaloo’ ties charged with stalking, threatening health official

A man from California, accused of sending top public health officials dozens of threatening letters with the boogaloo (a far-right anti-government movement) insignia, has been charged with stalking and threatening. Alan Joseph Viarengo, 55, faces two felony counts. He is alleged to have sent 24 letters to Dr. Sara Cody between April 9 and July 29, mocking her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

slogans and imagery from the “boogaloo” movement, a loosely organized, right-wing extremist group known for anti-government, anti-police and pro-gun beliefs. . . . The only thing right wing about that is pro gun. If say anti government is half right.... Anti big government is closer. But anti police? And anti government? Two out of the three give you Portland.

Crazies come from all walks of life. This is news because it is increasingly difficult to find examples on the conservative side, but they are still out there.

I feel like the boogaloo boys thing is made up unless its some weird thing floating around on Facebook. No where else on the internet do you hear or read about boogaloo boys except when its news.

But what was the content of those letters? I don't believe sending letters to a public official should ever be considered "stalking" by itself. Neither should mocking a public official.
