Seven years after scandal, court rules NSA’s snooping program illegal

A federal appeals court has ruled that the National Security Agency’s program to spy on billions of private phone calls and text messages in the US was illegal. It also said the snooping program was probably an unconstitutional abuse of power. In 2013, CIA contractor Edward Snowden leaked to the media about the existence of the NSA’s PRISM program that involved bulk collection of phone records.

Snowden should have been celebrated for calling out clear violations of the constitution that even went well beyond this. He did the right thing in the only way he could. They need to weed out those who don’t care about the constitution they swore to protect, that includes DOD, CIA, DHS, DOJ, and the State Department.
