LA County registers 121 degrees as region scorched by intense heat

The heatwave in Southern California brought scorching temperatures to the region when Woodland Hills, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, registered a record breaking 121 degrees. The neighborhood looked like a ghost town as people stayed indoors due to the heat, and it was still above 100 degrees at 7:30 p.m. The California Independent System Operator declared a Stage 2 Emergency.

The San Fernando Valley has an enversion layer because the valley is a like a bowl. Usually there's smog for the same reasons. But maybe less now because of covid.
