Promising Oxford Covid-19 vaccine trial halted after adverse effect on volunteer

The Phase 3 trial of a coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by University of Oxford and pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has been paused after a volunteer in the human trial showed a severe adverse reaction to the drug. The vaccine, which is known as AZD1222, recently began clinical testing in the US and Britain and is considered very promising. Pauses of this nature are routine during trials.

This is why Fauci was saying we can't promise a vaccine by a certain date because we need to make sure it is safe before we start releasing it to the general public. He further stated that we need to make sure that there are no serious negative side effects to the vaccine, and therefore it takes time, but numerous companies are working as hard as they can to come up with a safe vaccine. It is Trump who is putting pressure on the CDC and FDA to relax their protocols and get a vaccine released before the election. Both organizations seem willing to put their reputations on the line for Trump, which is a serious mistake, as they may never be trusted again!!
