A proposition in San Francisco may let teens as young as 16 vote in municipal elections. Residents are expected to decide on the measure in the November election. If it passes, San Francisco will become the first major American city to grant 16- and 17-year-olds the right to vote. A similar measure was introduced in 2016, but only received 48% in favor, failing to pass.
San Francisco needs to be fixed but I somehow doubt that lower the voting age to include more people who can't plan ahead very well, consider the consequences of their actions, and who are unlikely to vote anyway, is the fix they need.
