Self-described ’Transsexual Satanist Anarchist’ wins GOP primary for Sheriff

Honestly, pretty funny. As a right leaning fellow, I’m disappointed in the local government, but gah damn was that a great stunt to pull. Hopefully it actually reveals the importance of local elections to potential voters.

I mean, How much more proof do you need that republicans are actually the inclusive party?

This does show one problem with our voting system: outside of higher level positions like president, governor, mayor, etc., it is nearly impossible to know who are the best or even qualified candidates down ticket. Personally I don't vote for any office where the only thing I know is the name of the candidate.

I hope they win. At least they have reason to stand up for trans, speech, and religious rights.

This only proves that stupid people exist and to vote based on merit. Be active in seeking local political merit not party lines. If anything I could see this shifting more voters to independent.

I yhink part of the story is missing. Who were the OTHER GOP candidates, and why were they so unpalatable to the voters? This sounds less like selection of a radical and more like rejection of the competition.

DiMezzo was the only candidate for Sheriff on that Primary ballot. Of course he won the Rep nomination. Nobody else was running.

I’m sorry but as a progressive from NH I’m infuriated by this - HOW does this do ANYTHING to help ANYONE....? I live in NH & I’m so confused and more so ashamed - YES!!! We indeed need change; But shame the voters who DID come out for you...? I’ll now look deeper into it ; But again YOU ARE MAKING THE BROKEN SYSTEM WORSE!? F right off

Note: this was the Republican primary. At first glance, that is utterly hilarious. But when you begin to unpack what this means, this becomes far more concerning as likely in the general election the Democratic primary winner will be guaranteed to take the win. The Democrats are the ones currently with a track record for sucking at law enforcement in the vein of performing moral policing.
