Self-described ’Transsexual Satanist Anarchist’ wins GOP primary for Sheriff

Self-described ’Transsexual Satanist Anarchist’ wins GOP primary for Sheriff

Aria DiMezzo, a libertarian in Cheshire County New Hampshire has won the GOP primary with the slogan ’F**k the Police’ on her GOP sheriff ballot. In a blog post, DiMezzo said she was running to oppose the ’utterly and hopelessly broken’ system that nominated her and expressed a desire to secede from the United States and New Hampshire. She also excoriated the 4000 primary voters who nominated her.

Honestly, pretty funny. As a right leaning fellow, I’m disappointed in the local government, but gah damn was that a great stunt to pull. Hopefully it actually reveals the importance of local elections to potential voters.

I mean, How much more proof do you need that republicans are actually the inclusive party?

"...DiMezzo never showed up to GOP meetings and events, despite being invited." -- well of course not as everyone knows anarchists don't go to meetings! This does show one problem with our voting system: outside of higher level positions like president, governor, mayor, etc., it is nearly impossible to know who are the best or even qualified candidates down ticket. Personally I don't vote for any office where the only thing I know is the name of the candidate.

I hope they win. At least they have reason to stand up for trans, speech, and religious rights.

This only proves that stupid people exist and to vote based on merit. Be active in seeking local political merit not party lines. If anything I could see this shifting more voters to independent.

I yhink part of the story is missing. Who were the OTHER GOP candidates, and why were they so unpalatable to the voters? This sounds less like selection of a radical and more like rejection of the competition.

DiMezzo was the only candidate for Sheriff on that Primary ballot. Of course he won the Rep nomination. Nobody else was running.

I’m sorry but as a progressive from NH I’m infuriated by this - HOW does this do ANYTHING to help ANYONE....? I live in NH & I’m so confused and more so ashamed - YES!!! We indeed need change; But shame the voters who DID come out for you...? I’ll now look deeper into it ; But again YOU ARE MAKING THE BROKEN SYSTEM WORSE!? F right off

And the GOP has no problem allowing this to run on the GOP ticket? Really? It looks like the GOP has much bigger problems than just the rift between Trump and the never-Trumpers.

Well, it won't last long since it's expressing a wish to commit a federal crime in print. The sedition act is still a thing.

Absolutely hilarious, you would think this was satire, I had to reread and see the GOP to make sure I wasn't mistaking something. 😂 On a more thoughtful note, I think this is an example why local elections matter, ''m not a D or an R, but just taking part in a local election and understanding wha''s going on is important.

Good for them. We need less career representatives. Office held corresponding to the public and not singular motivation.

Well... As long as this individual is less corrupt than the old sheriff, it’s fine by me...

Note: this was the Republican primary. At first glance, that is utterly hilarious. But when you begin to unpack what this means, this becomes far more concerning as likely in the general election the Democratic primary winner will be guaranteed to take the win. The Democrats are the ones currently with a track record for sucking at law enforcement in the vein of performing moral policing.
