Philippines deports US Marine who killed transgender woman

The Philippines has deported a US Marine convicted of killing a transgender woman in the country in 2014. Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton was granted an absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte. A court had found Pemberton guilty of killing Jennifer Laude in a hotel, outside a former US navy base northwest of the capital Manila. The case sparked debate over the US military presence.

Has dicque = yes. Is a woman = no. Attempting to force someone into an involuntary sex act is a crime. Just because someone invited an altered man into their hotel room does not mean they want to have sex with an altered man. A dimly lit bar in the Philippines with alcohol, probably pretty easy to hide the manly features with perfume and fake titties. I'm sorry but if a man plays that game expect to receive some less than fantastic prizes.

So he murdered an individual for being transgender and is now freely walking among us? This is such a gross miscarriage of justice it causes me physical pain. Regardless of how you feel about transgender people; we should all be able to look at this situation and see it plainly for what it is; murder on the basis of someone’s identity. Shameful and disgusting. And another reason to despise the authoritarian nightmare Duterte.

"transgender woman" is a false statement. "Mentally Ill dude who dresses like a woman" is the factual representation.

A real tough guy. Methinks he doth protest too much. Maybe he felt a tingle in his nethers that made him uncomfortable.

Wow.... even the Marines can't train you for this. I'm happy to hear he was released, Tranny's should be obligated by Law to reveal their birth gender... to any prospective partner or client.

Wtf is this description. No. The Philippines did not want the removal of US presence because of this. China demanded it in exchange for loans and trade deals. After China arrested some Filipinos in the Philippines' own waters, this decision was reversed. They got a nice wake up call that communists nations are heavily authoritarian. Any claim this story had anything to do with it is pure propaganda from the Filipino government.

Funny how he is referred as a “she” when your DNA never changes no matter what you are called!

So for some of these comments it seems the only concern is not for a human being who was murdered. The concern is that marines can’t train you not to kill a prostitute? Or that it was this individuals fault because they did not inform their customer they had a penis? If they did - I honestly don’t know. Some of you seem to want to justify murder. MURDER. Because of what I would assume was a mutual cash transaction that was in and of itself illegal. You find out you’re not getting what you expected you walk away. You don’t kill someone. Not over this. No.

I might be a bad person, but I'd do the same in his shoes. He essentially got raped.

Hey I've got an idea, how about we stop putting our troops in all these foreign countries?

It's a murder. Clear as day. No matter how the person identifies its a murder. You people need to get that through your heads and stop making gender about everything. Its disgusting that you guys even defend this.

He's not a lance corporal anymore. He got kicked out the second he got convicted. In fact, it was because of such similar stunts by Uncle Sam's Misguided Children that the US military almost got tossed out of Japan.

This is incorrect. Defintionally speaking, gender is a concept defined by social and cultural characteristics, not biological ones. The Oxford definition for gender is “the fact of being male or female, especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences, not differences in biology; members of a particular gender as a group”. So it would be correct to refer to the victim in this case as a woman with feminine pronouns, because that is how they identified, despite being biologically male.

So a marine defended himself from an unwanted advance and attack by a man pretending to be a woman, and somehow the marine is the villain here?

Wow the sentiments here echo whitely that of men in the Phils where is such thing as the truth in lending act in banking. Likewise there are laws prescribing full disclosure in many occupations. Why cannot there be one for the oldest profession? The very young just served in Afghanistan only to be duped in gay sex literally. What do we expect?

The Filipinos have been called brown Americans for too long, after being America's first colony. They fought the japs who supported their revolution versus the Spaniards in WW11 siding with the Americans who colonized, killed 25% of their population during the Phil-Am war and altered much of their culture and history under the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny. Despite this, America never gave the Filipinos as much as Obama gave the Iranians (200Billon) or rebuilt them like the US did Japan under the Marshall plan. Now the crazy (or genius) President Duterte has allied himself with China after China forcibly took invaded, and built its base in the Spratleys islands. If Biden wins, China will eventually overrun this peace loving and most hospitable culture in the world. All because Black NOT Brown lives matter nowadays.

Those of you feeling sorry for the Transgender male, are defending a rapist. The marine was sexually assaulted because he did not consent to having sex with a man. End of story.
