Military police sought for ’Heat Ray’ weapon to use on DC protesters

A whistleblower said that Fed. officials had requested for a heat ray weapon that has been considered for use against protesters outside the White House this summer. National Guard Maj. DeMarco clarified to lawmakers that the Dept. of Defense’s top military police officer had sent an email June 1 asking the DC National Guard whether it had an ’Active Denial System’.

This isn't the first time. The ADS (Active Denial System) was announced for usage twice in 2010 - by the US military in Afghanistan and by the LA sheriff department for controlling prisoners. What's worrying about the usage of this "non-lethal" weapon is that it is described like 'an incandescent light bulb being pressed against the skin,' which of course can cause severe burns. Deliberately or not, can we really be sure that it won't have been used in a way that would have caused grievous injury?
