Peru’s president survives impeachment vote

Peru’s President Martín Vizcarra survived an impeachment vote Friday after long hours of debate. Only 32 lawmakers voted to remove the president, while 78 voted against and 15 abstained. The congress began impeachment proceedings last week, accusing Vizcarra of ’moral incapacity’ over his alleged relationship with a singer who had received questionable government contracts.
