Elephants may have died from toxic algae, says Botswana

The Botswana govt. announced that the sudden deaths of nearly 330 elephants this year may have occurred because they drank water contaminated by toxic blue-green algae. The elephants in the Seronga area died from a neurological disorder caused by drinking the tainted water. The deaths ceased after the water pans dried up, acting Director of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks explained.
