Active-duty suicides up 20% during COVID-19 pandemic

Suicides among active-duty US military service members have reportedly increased by as much as 20% during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pentagon is yet to provide official numbers for 2020. Officials said they believe the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic is adding stress to an already strained force. Soldiers’ 10-month deployments stretched to 11 months because of the quarantines needed.

"Officials said they believe the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic is adding stress to an already strained force. " I need a little help here. Any military veterans around? If troops have been deployed at a station, then how is it that isolation can get to them? I mean, dont they stay together? Also, what is the stress that members of the military deal with? And are there any coping mechanisms that military personnel are taught? Also, in case some person is facing a mental health issue, is approaching a psychiatrist/psychologist encouraged, or looked down upon? These are a few things I need a little help with. :)
