Spanish top court upholds ban on Catalan leader Quim Torra from office

Spain’s top court has upheld a decision to ban Catalonia’s separatist leader Quim Torra from holding public office. Torra was convicted on charges of disobeying the courts for refusing to remove pro-independence banners from a government building ahead of last year’s general election. He was banned from holding public office and fined €30,000 but appealed the decision.
