Ex-Audi boss Rupert Stadler goes on trial in Volkswagen emissions scandal

Rupert Stadler, Volkswagen’s Audi division head from 2010 to 2018, has gone on trial in the first prosecution related to the Volkswagen emissions scandal in Germany. Stadler and three other men are accused of fraud in a case related to the 2015 scandal in which Volkswagen admitted it had rigged millions of diesel cars to cheat emissions tests after a rigging software was uncovered in the US.
