California needs a lot more power for an all-electric vehicle fleet

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom last week announced it would ban sale of internal combustion engine cars to switch to electric-powered vehicles. But to do so California needs to generate much more electricity. California endured planned blackouts in recent years, but was threatened last month by the first blackouts related to supply in 19yrs as a heatwave led to a spike in energy consumption.

You know why.. because they closed all but 1 nuclear power plant... and expect solar and wind to make up the difference ( both un-reliable for different reasons)

Well Californians voted for him. I hope they're enjoying the damage Newsom is wreaking upon the state. If not, I hope that the voters have learned how serious voting is and will never be so cavalier about it ever again.

If California hadn't canceled virtually every hydroelectric plant in the last 40 years, they'd have lots of clean energy. But, the Sierra club likes to raft.

My tenant says they're running a generator three days a week to pump water for the well and cool the house. Imagine how much fuel they'd burn to charge their car as the power grid is down consistently now.

California needs more power with the load they have right now. They say batteries are what they need but they’re not even buying those right now. I just wish they’d actually start fixing the problem before they add more load to the system.

They want a perpetual 3rd world type crisis. So they never build enough power. The environment is just an excuse. The artificial scarcity is what they actually want. It's about controling the masses, eventually no cars, no showers, no air conditioning, packed into cities only crammed into massive housing apartments. Example of Seattle council talking about it.

Another... how is this news? There's only a handful of things California doesn't need; People, lefty leaning Democrats, fires, taxes , actors in politics, and illegal immigrants.

Elections have consequences. California is its own worst enemy. Northern California sold half of it's water to LA, they turned the Colorado River into a mud puddle, and still there is not enough. There never will be. The Native Americans have known all along that sometimes, when forests become overgrown and the under brush is packed and dry, nature takes care of itself by letting it burn. They stopped using controlled, prescribed burns effectively years ago. California's unicorn, fairy and leprechaun leaders are so bamboozled by carbon neutral and all electric vehicles they forget where all the electricity that they don't have is going to come from. The answer is always the same. Throw a boat load of taxpayer dollars at it, and when it doesn't work, throw some more. Every election cycle, the boneheads in Sacramento come with a slew of wacka-doo propositions and pet projects that always end up at least three times over budget. Democrats have created a single party system of self-serving, echo chamber, pay-to-play, greedy, hypocrites whose motto is "plenty for me and none for thee." They hate the president because little by little, they're being exposed as cheats, frauds and pedophiles. And Biden. Everyone knows he is just a puppet. The man is obviously unfit to do anything but sniff little girl's hair and cover up for his corrupt family. 48 years to do absolutely nothing but flip-flop, steal his peers ideas and claim them as his own. And lie, lie, lie, lie to cover up another lie. And where's the media? Good Ol' Joe gets a pass. Dangerous. What a waste.

Going electric is never going to happen. You will have constant power outages just from the amount of people plugging their cars in for 8 to 12 hours a day. Newsome is an idiot if he thinks this is a feasible plan. Look at his project with the meg lift train ... He ran out of money to complete the damn thing. Lol
