Survivor of ’63 church bombing issued apology by Alabama governor

Kay Ivey, the Governor of Alabama issued an apology to a survivor of a racist 1963 church bombing that killed four Black girls. While Governor Ivey declined to pay restitution without legislative involvement, she described the blast as an ’egregious injustice’. She also said that the bombing had caused ’untold pain and suffering’ to the victims and their families through the decades.
